Artifacts - indiana jones

Companion Prints

they belong in a museum!

Indiana Jones is the artifact hunter par excellence, and every one of his movies is filled with wondrous, shiny, hugely artifact-like things. But since I had to choose, I picked the three you see on the right. Or up top. I have no idea what you're using to read this. Just look at the pictures, k?

So, we have the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol, the Sankara Stones and the Holy Grail! One artifact for each one of the three first movies, because, a) three is a magical number, and b) in my headcanon "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" didn't happen.

These three prints kicked off my “Artifacts” series. The idea behind the series is that each month I’ll create a set of three small prints depicting the artifacts/objects/MacGuffins of a movie or property, and once I have a store running, I’ll put them up as a limited edition. After that edition is sold, they won’t ever come back. I just want to be able to draw cool shit and put it out in the world quick, while I work on big print projects that take way longer.

Why 3, why so small and why “Artifacts”? Well, 3 is a fantastic number! Anso a manageable number if I’m to do this every month. Now, as to why 8x8s, the reason has to do with space, and the fact that most quality prints you can get out there are at least 18x24. I firmly believe small prints have a place on the wall and can work beautifully with the larger ones, balancing and complimenting them.

And why artifacts? well, when you think about movies, books or stories, you think about the people in them, but a lot of the time the things that start the story and keep the chain of events moving are as important and interesting as the people that build, chase or use them. And they do it all without a single line of dialogue. ;)
