“Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass”

Quentin Tarantino has a way of turning normal, everyday situations into amazingly bizarre narratives, and a big part of that is due to great writing and characterization. The rest is just vividly describing how someone decides to push a cold slab of metal until it’s firmly lodged up their rectum. Which, could be argued is great characterization too, but I just think it’s knowing your audience. We’re all 12 year-olds inside.

I painted these in a style meant to homage the sort of 70s look and feel of the movie, and the pulp magazines and books of the time. These are simple objects, but in the hands of Tarantino, they tell a story and help propel the characters along the arc they follow. Violence and sordidness notwithstanding, it is characters and their motivations what make this movie a freaking gem.

Now, with my movie critic moment out of the way, I can just tell you that I just think these look really cool and unique. The dotted pattern gives them a bit of an edge, and the contrast between the red background and the pieces themselves makes them really pop.

Also, I painted an extra one in a different format: the katana Butch uses to unceremoniously eviscerate good old Maynard. The only way to get it is if you buy both the AMP and the artifacts for the movie. I think it looks really kickass along with the three other prints.
